The history of the Rohingya is rich, but much of it remains scattered, undocumented, or at risk of being forgotten. For generations, it has lived in the memories of elders, family stories, and old photographs, and displacement and the destruction of our communities have made preserving it more urgent than ever.
Our work begins from a Rohingya perspective, but it is grounded in evidence, drawn from historical records, primary sources, and testimonies to build a reliable body of knowledge. This matters today, as misinformation and historical distortion are widespread, and it will matter even more tomorrow: a Rohingya student should be able to learn their history from documented sources, not memories alone. We have already lost homes, villages, and documents. We must not lose our history as well.
